CPR performed on the man after collapsing at the finish line

A man running in the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run half-marathon collapsed 10 feet away from the finish line. He was transported by ambulance.

Unforeseen ordeal during a run

The runner seems to stumble and fell to the ground. There were one doctor and on-site medical personnel who rushed to the man who was in his 40s or 50s. They removed the shirt and hat of the man and delivering CPR. More people helped including a doctor and at least 3 individuals who performed CPR before the man breathed on his own after 15 minutes.

Upon the arrival of the Emergency Health Services paramedics, they transported the man to a healthcare facility. People in the crowd including fellow runners expressed concern about the man and relieved that he was breathing again.

There were 3 women who joined the raised praised the event organizers for the rapid response. They were surprised that it took some time for the ambulance to arrive. The man was lucky that there were many doctors present at the site.
