Audits show some N.B. hospital staff not washing hands or wearing masks

Employees in a health facility were not wearing face masks and not washing hands based on information from an audit.

Employees at Horizon Health Network should take the necessary action to follow the rules on proper hand hygiene.

Based on reports, the employees in Horizon facilities have a concerning trend – employees and doctors do not wear a mask or wash hands when entering the facilities.

It was discovered that more than 215 employees do not thoroughly clean their hands.

The facility had 11 hand sanitizer distributors positioned within 100 feet of the entrance. The installation of these sanitizers stresses the importance of proper hygiene.

There have been more than 300 instances where staff did not wear a mask when they entered a Horizon facility and more than 1,400 instances where they did not sanitize their hands.

There were also several instances, around 300 in which the employees do not wear a mask when entering a Horizon facility. Around 1,400 instances when they did not properly sanitize their hands.

Staff is given regular correspondence regarding requirements to wear a mask and wash hands upon entering a building. There are also signs at every entrance.
