Bystander action

According to the North Vancouver District Fire and Rescue Services, a team responded to the waters close to Twin Falls when they received a call about a possible drowning.

When the fire crews along with the paramedics and park rangers arrived at the gravel beach just beneath the falls, the 24-year-old was breathing and coherent, when just moments earlier he was unconscious.

A couple and a family who were enjoying Lynn Canyon Park noticed that something was not right. They were the ones who got into the water and pulled the drowning swimmer back to the shore.

When the young man was pulled back to the river’s edge, he did not have a pulse and was not breathing. The family performed CPR for up to 2 minutes before he coughed up water and was revived.
