The boy collapsed from a seizure while playing basketball at a school in Orleans. The boy went into cardiac arrest as a result. The witnesses started CPR right away and restored his heart with just a single shock from a public defibrillator.
The boy was transferred to a healthcare facility for further treatment. According to the Ottawa paramedics, the early use of the defibrillator was instrumental in the survival of the boy.
