A 57-year old woman drowned in a lake in Nova Scotia’s Guysborough County and it might have been a pet involved. The RCMP were called to Indian Harbour Lake around 6:40 PM for a report on a woman in the water.
Is it a possible pet rescue?
According to Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, there were two men who had gone to the home to check on the woman. They found her in a lake covered by ice. They dragged her from the water, delivered CPR and called for emergency assistance. The woman was later declared dead in a healthcare facility.
The investigation is still in its initial phases, but police are looking into the possibility that the woman might have been trying to rescue a dog.
According to Hutchinson, it is something that they are looking at to figure out if maybe the dog had entered the water and efforts were done to retrieve it back ashore. Nevertheless, it is something that cannot be confirmed at this time.
