Victims of head-on crash received CPR

The victims of a head-on crash were given CPR. The incident involved a pickup truck and a car that collided head-on in north Oshawa.

Timely intervention

The emergency crews were called to the region of Simcoe Street North and Coates Road East at around 9 AM for multiple reports of a crash.

The pickup truck had one occupant, but he was declared dead on the scene. The officers were not able to pull him out of the fiery vehicle. The vehicle was completely engulfed in flames upon the arrival of the officers.

Upon the arrival of the officers, they took the male out of the vehicle and performed CPR and first aid, but he succumbed to his injuries.

The other vehicle involved in the deadly crash was a white Volkswagen which had two 71-year-old occupants. Upon the arrival of the officers, they took the male out of the vehicle and performed CPR and first aid, but he succumbed to his injuries. The female driver was transported by air ambulance to a trauma center in critical condition.

A few civilians who witnessed the crash rushed over to help the responding officers at the tragic scene.

The roads in the area were blocked off as an investigation into the matter is being conducted.

Being prepared

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving skill that can save a life. It is recommended to enroll in a first aid course to be prepared in case of emergencies.
