Victim of house fire resuscitated with CPR

A man in his 50s was revived after inhaling large amounts of smoke. The incident involved a Fairbank house fire. According to the Toronto Fire Capt. David Eckerman, the firefighters responded to a call from an alarm company informing them of a house fire.

Fire rescue

Around 9 fire trucks were dispatched to the one-alarm fire and heavy smoke arises from the residence. The man was rushed to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre under severe conditions suffering from severe smoke inhalation.

The vital signs of the man were initially absent, but after CPR was delivered, they were able to revive the man. The man was the only person in the house at the time the fire occurred.

According to Eckerman, the fire was contained to the kitchen. The blaze had since been safely extinguished. The root cause of the fire was not yet determined and the investigation is still ongoing.
