Travelers at YVR don masks as coronavirus concerns grow

Travelers passing through Vancouver International Airport are taking extra precautions in the wake of B.C.’s first presumptive positive case of COVID-19 by wearing face masks.

The provincial health ministry announced that a 40-year old man is in self-isolation at his house in the Vancouver Coastal Health region after returning from a trip to China. He started showing symptoms and a test done locally came back positive for COVID-19.

For some travelers, the news was reason to be extra careful.

Those who are hopping on a flight passing through China must check in with their airline since several flights have been canceled. Air Canada canceled select flights to Canada. The airline which runs 33 flights to China every week stated that customers will be notified and offered other travel options.
