A 42-year old man is in a healthcare facility in critical condition after he was stabbed by another passenger on a transit bus.
The Richmond RCMP responded to several 911 calls regarding an incident on a Coast Mountain bus. The video on social media showed paramedics giving the victim CPR in the doorway of the vehicle.
The violence broke out just before 2 PM. The bus pulled over across the street from the Aberdeen Canada Line station. The RCMP sealed off No. 3 Road, Eastbound, near Cambie Road for several hours while they investigated. Officers seized the vehicle to collect forensic evidence.
There was an alleged physical altercation between two passengers. The police are uncertain about what sparked the fight or if the pair knew each other. A passenger, a 42-year old male was transported to a hospital by emergency medical personnel suffering critical stab wounds.
A 22-year old Richmond man was arrested. RCMP stated that it was thankful that many witnesses used their phones to call for help.
