Quebec police officers do not need to wear face masks during traffic stops

The Quebec provincial police stated that police officers do not need to wear a face mask when they come to your window.

In a viral video of a traffic stop on a Quebec City highway, a motorist was displeased with an SQ officer. In the video, the man screams at the officer since he was not wearing a face mask while standing at the car window. The man even gets out of his vehicle and shoves an officer when he comes close.

According to SQ, if an intervention lasts less than 15 minutes total, the police officers do not need to wear face masks. It is a 15-minute rule. If a police officer is intervening with an individual and total contact with that person at less than two meters is less than 15 cumulative minutes. If it exceeds 15 minutes, protective gear is worn.
