When the fire rescue and B.C. paramedics eventually arrived took over with the treatment and provided first aid and brought him to the hospital for further treatment. One of the policemen accompanied the victim to the hospital.

The Police Officer Down training is a course that teaches the policemen the fundamentals in providing first aid to fellow policemen. It trains policemen how to save their own life or life of his partner when violence is against them and when they become a victim. This training is similar to the training used in the Vancouver Police Department. This training was developed by Dr. Mark Vu who is the medical director of the Victoria police.

According to Bowen Osoko, spokesperson for the Victoria Police department, the victim is now recovering from his severe injuries. policemen are not generally expected to give medical aid to victims, but because of the recent training and severity of the injuries, these trained police officers jumped into action.

Dr.Vu was grateful for the expert and professional response of these two police officers. They used their training in helping other members of the public in certain situations such as saving the life of a man. furthermore Dr. Vu sincerely wishes that the victim will have a fast recovery.
