The two crews of the Canadian coast guard patrol the area nearly 150 nautical miles. It takes only about 5 minutes for the crews of the coast guard to go from a deep sleep into a full-suited and operational rescue operations.

Regina first aid
In a few minutes the Canadian Coast Guard arrived in the area and helped the two ferry crew provide first aid to the victim.

It was very fast; they figured out that the man was in the water for at least 10 minutes already. The water is very cold at this time of the year. And there is a possibility that hypothermia can develop very fast. They pulled the man in the water immediately. Emergency medical services immediately provided first aid on the victim who is still conscious. He was then transported to the hospital with unidentified injuries. There was no indication why the man ended up in the cold Detroit River and how long was the man in water before he was rescued.

According to Gena Boschin who is the marketing director for Bob-Lo island development, she described the rescue as a “courageous thing to do” and she gives importance to the hard work and professionalism of the crew of the ferry. They got a tough job and they perform it to a great extent. So, when accidents like this will again happen, you really want to give thanks and become grateful for their services.
