A nanny is recognized for saving the life of a child with CPR. At West Vancouver, B.C, a nanny is hailed as a hero for saving the life of a 19-month old boy in the Horseshoe Bay neighborhood.
Saving a life
Sgt. Paul Skelton stated that the young boy was left alone for moments, but that was all the time he needed to reach a backyard swimming pool and tumbled in. By the time the family realized the boy was missing and pulled him out of the pool, he was unconscious and not breathing.
It was at that point when the nanny took over and initiated in the delivery of CPR. Skelton stated that she continued with the chest compressions and rescue breathing until the child started to sputter and cry.
The toddler spent the night in a healthcare facility and further tests are scheduled but Skelton stated that he is expected to recover.
Prompt delivery of care
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) must be promptly delivered to help save lives. It is a life-saving technique that significantly improves the chances of survival during emergencies.
