Man involved in water scooter incident given CPR

A 33-year old man from Greater Napanee is dead after found face-down in the Bay of Quinte. He was discovered as a water scooter he was believed to be using was driving in circles unmanned nearby.

The OPP were called to a public boat launch along the eastern edge of the Bay of Quinte. Someone called for emergency assistance to report that a possibly intoxicated man was trying to unload a jet ski at the boat launch.

A bystander delivered CPR as well as the police until the arrival of the paramedics.

While the officers headed to the scene, OPP were informed that a man and woman wearing life jackets were seen riding the jet ski in the Bay of Quinte. After 20 minutes, the OPP were informed that someone was executing CPR on a man at a residence on County Road 9 which was not far from the boat launch.

Findings of the accident

The man was discovered facing-down in the water after another boater noticed that the unmanned jet ski was circling nearby. A bystander delivered CPR as well as the police until the arrival of the paramedics.

The victim was transported to a healthcare facility where he was declared dead.
