Man given CPR after crashing small plane in Nelson

The pilot of a small plane that crashed in Nelson, B.C. was given CPR. The 57-year old pilot from Trail, B.C. was able to tell RCMP officials in the day via cell phone that he had suffered a broken leg and other injuries but was unable to tell them where he was.

Crash incident

The authorities started a ground and air search of an area near Marsden Road and Highway 3A. The search was hampered by low cloud cover, steep terrain and dense brush.

About five hours later, search and rescuers finally found the pilot and the plane, an older model Cessna. CPR was quickly performed on the pilot, but he could not be resuscitated. The identity of the man was withheld until his family could be notified.
