Wheaton GMC Buick Cadillac employees in Saskatoon saved Ted Brown’s life with an AED.
A 65-year old employee at a Saskatoon car dealership is alive today due to the rapid thinking of co-workers and easy access to an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Availability of AEDs
Ted Brown is a staff member at Wheaton GMC Buick Cadillac who went into cardiac arrest at work. The co-workers of the man immediately started CPR and called 911. Employees obtained the company AED and applied it to their co-workers.
According to Myron Knihnitski, one of the employees who acted quickly, he had no experience using a defibrillator and there was another employee who knew but she has not used it. He decided that there is nothing to lose so they applied the pads and started.
Why basic first aid is vital?
In instances where you are faced with a scenario where a person needs help and there is no medical personnel around, being trained on first aid and CPR is an advantage. Enrolling in first aid and CPR course is essential.
