Lethbridge police officer saves man from fentanyl overdose

Acting Sgt. Chris Stock found a man who had been walking with friends after taking half of a fentanyl pill who appeared to overdose.

He was initially on the call for a report of a woman being assaulted by 3 males. Upon discovering the man, he was not breathing and had no pulse. Stock immediately performed CPR with the assistance of another man in the group.

After several attempts, both men were successful in reviving the 21-year old man. The EMS soon arrived after and transported to a healthcare facility.

According to the paramedics, the quick action of Stock helped in saving the man’s life. Stock has worked for Lethbridge police for 14 years and serves as a frontline patrols officer.

Fentanyl is a highly potent and addictive opioid. It has been linked to almost 145 cases of deaths in Alberta in the first 6 months of the year. A dose the size of 2 grains of salt can be fatal and no amount of the drug is considered safe.
