A motorcyclist who died after an incident in the road was given CPR. The incident occurred when a logging truck spilled its load on the Sea-to-Sky highway which stopped the traffic in both directions.
Road accident
The truck was southbound on the Highway 99 when it lost control driving around a bend near the Nordic area of Whistler. The logs struck a northbound motorcycle and another vehicle. The motorcyclist was transported to the Whistler Health Care Centre but has since died from his injuries. The police did not confirm the age of the victim.
The occupants of the vehicle struck by logs were taken to a healthcare facility for precautionary reasons. The truck driver sustained injuries in the accidents but officials have not disclosed how severe they are.
According to one witness who claimed to be in the area, she heard a massive bang followed by smoke before the fire trucks arrive on scene. She posted on Facebook that a logger truck tipped over and landed the logs on a motorbike out for a ride and CPR was being performed.
Timely intervention
The immediate delivery of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is vital during emergencies. It is a life-saving technique that improves the chances of survival.
