Angler dies despite CPR after falling into Bow River

An angler who fell into Bow River was given CPR. Sadly, the incident occurred while the man was fishing in the Bow River. Sadly, the man died according to the police. Another man dove into the frigid water to rescue the man.

Unforeseen ordeal in the water

The emergency crews responded to calls of 2 people in the water near Graves Bridge in the southeast.

Based on the initial reports, a man who was fishing witnessed another man who was also fishing nearby. He fell into the water and could not get himself up and out. The man was swept away by the current. The angler who witnessed this quickly went into the river after the submerged man. He swam to him and pulled him back to shore and started CPR.

The fire crews took over with the CPR and the man was transported to a healthcare facility. It remains unknown how the man ended up submerged in the water.

The angler who dove into the river to rescue the man was unharmed but was very cold. Based on a release, the rescuer placed himself at risk to save the life of his fellow angler.
