An elderly woman involved in fire given CPR

An 84-year old woman was given CPR after a fire broke out in a duplex in Montreal’s Riviere-des-Prairies borough.

The Montreal fire department received a call at around 12 PM about a blaze at a home, situated on Sylvain-Garneau Street. Upon entering the residence, the firefighters found the lifeless body of the woman in the basement.

After the first responders performed CPR, the woman was transported to a hospital. Sadly, she was declared dead according to a Montreal police spokesperson.

The firefighters are working to figure out whether or not there was a working fire alarm in the house. It was confirmed that the blaze did not spread to the surrounding buildings and there were no other reported injuries.
