A man sustains machete injuries and a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his back. The incident occurred while fighting off a man breaking into his property in Red Deer.

The 23-year old victim surprised the assailant who was armed with a machete and a small-caliber firearm. The thief entered the garage and a struggled ensued.

Encounter with a thief

The attacker is in his 20s and weighed around 150 pounds. Based on the reports, he was described with a sunken face and black hair that fell above his shoulders. The man was wearing a black hat, blue turtleneck compression shirt beneath a black zip-up hoodie, skate shoes, and baggy faded blue jeans.
