The Town of Jasper has joined the growing list of municipalities across Alberta making face masks mandatory to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in public places.
The Jasper municipal council made face masks or coverings compulsory on most sidewalks downtown and in all outdoor public places where people cannot maintain two meters of distance.
The new temporary bylaw, which is now in effect, also requires individuals to wear face masks or coverings in all indoor public places, which includes privately owned businesses and facilities accessible to the general public.
Some exemptions apply in indoor public places when people are separated by plexiglass or physical barriers, for children under two, those with medical conditions, and for those who are eating or drinking.
