1. Refunds, Transfers, and Cancellations
1.1. Students are eligible for a full refund or course transfer if the request is submitted no later than 72 hours prior to the scheduled course start time.
1.2. Requests for refunds, transfers, or cancellations made within 72 hours of the course start time, or after the course has commenced, will not be processed under any circumstances.
1.3. Once the 72-hour window has expired or the course has begun, the student’s registration is considered final, and no refunds or transfers will be granted.
1.4. No refunds will be issued once a course certificate has been awarded, regardless of the reason for the request.
2. Registration Name
2.1. The name on the student’s registration must match the name on their ID.
2.2. If the registration does not match the name on the ID, the student must re-register under the correct name.
2.3. No refunds will be issued for registrations under a different name. The student will need to pay any applicable fees for re-registration and reschedule the course for a future date.
3. Student Responsibility in Course Selection
3.1. It is the student’s sole responsibility to ensure that the course and certification align with the requirements set forth by their employer, educational institution, or governing body before completing registration.
3.2. Students should confirm that the selected course meets the criteria of their relevant institution or employer before enrollment.
3.3. No refunds will be granted for incorrect course selection if the request is made within 72 hours of the course start time or after the course has commenced, nor after a certificate has been issued.
4. Course Requirements and Conduct
4.1. English Language Proficiency: Students must possess sufficient English language proficiency to fully participate in the course and complete all associated assessments.
4.2. In the event of a language barrier, students may retake the course at no additional charge, provided both the skills demonstration and written examination have been successfully completed.
4.3. If a student fails to meet course requirements after a second attempt, they must pay the full course fee for a third attempt.
4.4. Behavioral Expectations: Students are expected to conduct themselves respectfully and comply with all course instructions. Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the course, with no refund or transfer.
4.5. Physical Requirements: Students must be capable of performing floor-based activities. Those with physical disabilities or limitations should contact customer service prior to enrollment to ensure they meet participation criteria, particularly for First Aid training.
4.6. Medical Disclosure: Students must disclose any relevant medical conditions or limitations at the time of registration. Failure to do so may result in denial of participation and forfeiture of course fees.
5. Course Upgrades
5.1. Students may request an upgrade to a higher-level course within 30 days of completing the original course.
5.2. After 30 days, students wishing to upgrade must pay the full price for the upgraded course.
5.3. Students upgrading within the 30-day period will only be responsible for the price difference between the original and upgraded course.
5.4. To qualify for an upgrade, students must have completed the entire course, including both the skills demonstration and written examination.
6. Non-Attendance and Late Arrival
6.1. Students who fail to attend a scheduled course without prior notification will forfeit all course fees.
6.2. Students arriving more than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time will be denied entry to the course. No rescheduling or refunds will be granted within 72 hours of the course start time or after the course has commenced.
6.3. Late arrivals who wish to reschedule must pay the full course fee plus a $25 rescheduling fee.
7. Rescheduling and Break Policies
7.1. Students must adhere to the designated break times during the course.
7.2. Late return from breaks may result in the need to reschedule the course, subject to a $25 rescheduling fee.
8. Course Completion and Exam Requirements
8.1. Successful course completion requires passing both the skills demonstration and written exam, as assessed by the instructor.
8.2. If a student fails either component, the course will be considered incomplete, and both components must be successfully passed for course completion.
8.3. Retake Policy: Students who fail the course may retake it free of charge, provided they attempted both components during the original session. If a student fails a second time, they must pay the full course fee to retake the course.
9. Downgrade Policy
9.1. Downgrades to a lower-level course are not permitted once a course has been purchased. Students are advised to select the correct course at the time of booking.
10. Administration Fee
10.1. All course fees include a non-refundable $25 administration fee, charged at the time of initial registration.
11. Child and Guardian Policy
11.1. Babies and young children are not permitted in the classroom under any circumstances.
11.2. Children aged 12-16 may attend courses if accompanied by a guardian at all times.
11.3. Courses for children aged 12-16 must be scheduled on weekdays. Non-compliance will result in a $25 rescheduling fee.
12. First Aid Certification
12.1. Upon successful completion, students will receive an WorkSafe Saskatchewan certification, in accordance with CSA standards, recognized by employers and educational institutions.
13. Lost Certification
13.1. Students who lose their certification card may request a replacement for a fee of $25. The replacement card must be collected from the location where the original course was completed.
14. Class Cancellations
14.1. The organization reserves the right to cancel any course if the minimum required class size, as per provincial standards, is not met.
14.2. In the event of cancellation, students will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
14.3. The organization is not liable for any additional costs incurred by the student due to course cancellation, including but not limited to travel or lodging expenses.
15. Recertification
15.1. Students must ensure that their certification is valid at the time of course attendance. No refunds
or transfers will be granted to students without valid certification on the course date.
15.2. Students with expired or invalid certification must purchase the relevant course to meet certification requirements.
16. Online/Blended Courses
16.1. Online or blended courses are non-refundable once purchased.
16.2. Students must register for the in-person component within 45 days of purchasing the online portion. Failure to do so will require repurchase of the online course to proceed with the in-person component.
16.3. Rescheduling of the in-person component must occur at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled start time. No rescheduling or refunds will be granted within 72 hours of the course start time.
16.4. Students who miss the in-person component must pay the full course fee to retake the class.
17. Medical Emergencies
17.1. In cases of medical emergencies, the organization may, at its discretion, allow rescheduling outside of usual policy guidelines. This rescheduling will be subject to a $25 rescheduling fee.
17.2. A doctor’s note, including the contact details of the attending physician, must be submitted to substantiate the request for rescheduling due to a medical emergency.
18. Cash Payment and Non-Attendance
18.1. Students who choose to pay in cash and fail to attend the course must pay the full course fee via credit card to reschedule, in addition to a $25 rescheduling fee.
19. Force Majeure
19.1. The organization shall not be held liable for any delays or failure to meet its obligations due to events beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, or other emergencies.
3M Mask Fit Test – Terms and Conditions
1. Participant Requirements
1.1. The participant must arrive with a clean-shaven face in the areas where the mask makes contact, specifically the nose, mouth, and chin.
1.2. A proper seal is required for the mask to function effectively; facial hair may prevent a proper seal and lead to an unsuccessful fit test.
1.3. Participants should trim or shave facial hair prior to the test. If the fit test is unsuccessful due to facial hair, the participant will be required to pay for a new test.
2. Scent and Consumption Guidelines
2.1. Participants must avoid wearing strong scents, including perfumes, colognes, lotions, or other fragranced products.
2.2. Strong scents may interfere with the testing process and lead to inaccurate results.
3.1. Participants should refrain from smoking, eating, or drinking for at least 15 minutes before the test to avoid compromising test accuracy.
3. Medical Conditions
4.1. Participants with respiratory conditions such as a cold, asthma, or infection should reschedule to ensure the validity of the test.
5.1. Failure to comply with the instructions may result in an unsuccessful fit test, requiring the participant to pay for a new test and schedule a new appointment.
Liability Release and Acknowledgment
By enrolling in the course, the student acknowledges and agrees to the following:
- Assumption of Risk: The student understands that First Aid training involves physical activities, including floor work, and voluntarily assumes all risks associated with participation in the course.
- Injury Disclaimer: The student releases the company, its instructors, and affiliates from liability for any injuries or damages arising during or after the course, regardless of cause.
- Use of Knowledge: The student assumes full responsibility for any actions taken based on knowledge gained in the course, including the provision of First Aid or emergency assistance. First Aid training is not a substitute for professional medical care.
- Medical Conditions: The student agrees to notify the instructor and customer service of any medical conditions or physical limitations that may affect participation prior to registration.
Mask Fit Testing Liability Release Agreement
- Acknowledgment of Risk: The participant acknowledges that mask fit testing may cause discomfort or adverse reactions from wearing a respirator for extended periods.
- Waiver and Release of Liability: The participant releases the company from any claims or damages arising from the mask fit testing process.
- Fit Guarantee: The company does not guarantee a perfect fit for all participants but will assist in mask adjustments or offer alternatives. The company is not responsible for fit issues caused by changes in weight or facial hair.
- Health Disclaimer: The participant confirms they are in good health and capable of undergoing fit testing. Any known health concerns must be disclosed prior to testing.
- Indemnity: The participant agrees to indemnify the company against any claims arising from the mask fit testing process.
By enrolling, the student agrees to indemnify St. Mark James Training/Lethbridge First Aid from any claims arising from their participation in the course, including claims arising from negligence or failure to comply with these policies.
