Teenager involved in a skiing ordeal receives first aid care

A 15-year old Abbotsford girl, Catherine Schoeman died during a church youth outing. The incident was confirmed by a park manager and later in the day by Princeton RCMP Sgt. Barry Kennedy.

Skiing accident

According to Kennedy, Catherine Schoeman was skiing at the park with a 73-member church group. They had their first run of the day before 9:30 AM. The witnesses reported that Catherine was going slow initially and veered off the slope where the teen ran into several trees.

The local ski patrol provided first-aid measures until the arrival of the paramedics, but Schoeman was declared dead on the scene after 11 AM. The BC Coroners Service is currently investigating the incident.
