A 17-year old body was struck and killed on a Cape Breton highway. The mother of the boy says his son was bending over to tie his shoe as he walked home from a graduation party.
Road accident
According to Jenn Hanna, her son Joneil was at a graduation house party and started walking home with friends along Highway 223 after the party ended around 3:30 AM. His son was hit by a car after stopping to fix his shoe and his friends pulled him out of the ditch to perform CPR. Sadly, he died a short while after in a healthcare facility.
Based on the police report, a vehicle was captured at the scene but they will not say if any charges are laid.
The Cape Breton Regional Police received several calls about the party where hundreds of teenagers were present but decided not to break it up.
