Man who drowns in retirement home given CPR

A man who drowned in a retirement home was given CPR. Sadly, the man died after having medical difficulty while swimming in the pool of a retirement home in the city of Levis, across the river from Quebec City.

Watery ordeal

The staff at the retirement home called 911 at around 7:30 AM when a woman saw a man having difficulty swimming and noticed him slip under the water.

Immediate delivery of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can save a life.

The man was pulled out of the pool and paramedics performed CPR until he arrived at the hospital, where his death was confirmed.

An autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death, although it has been noted by the police that the man was known to have heart problems. The man was 80 years old.
