A man who crashed SUV after being shot received first aid. The victim of a fatal shooting in a residential area of Coquitlam attempted to drive away after he was shot six or seven times.

The incident occurred around 11PM on a quiet cul-de-sac on Marathon Court, near Brunette and Schoolhouse. After he was shot, the victim drove a few blocks west on Brunette and crashed into a bus stop before coming to a stop.

A witness in the area attempted to provide emergency first aid to the driver of the vehicle until the BC Ambulance Service arrived according to Sgt. Jennifer Pound. When police found him, the man was severely injured, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital but died a short time after.

According to witnesses, there were up to seven shots fired from what sounded like an automated weapon and a suspect was seen running from the scene on foot.
