Man makes masks for the hearing impaired

A man has been creating masks in his home since the COVID-19 pandemic started, but he recently saw the need to help a specific community. He shares that he has been creating masks for the hearing impaired.

He has been creating a specially designed face mask that is made out of cotton with a clear vinyl insert. The mask covers the nose and mouth but leaves enough space to lip read or do the lip reading. Before, people cannot see anybody’s lips or anything. Now, they can start to communicate with society.

They have created masks at home and have made around 5,000. Those who are hearing impaired have been grateful to receive them.

The Mississauga man admits that he did not realize initially how masks that cover the nose and mouth would create a communication barrier for those who are hearing impaired.
