A man died despite CPR at a Vancouver airport. Robert Dziekanski was lying on the floor of Vancouver’s airport where his face is blue. It was only 90 seconds after RCMP officers who shocked him with a Taser stated that he was alive and breathing.
Dispute at Vancouver airport
Allan Maciak and his partner arrived more than 10 minutes after 4 RCMP officers confronted Dziekanski and stunned him several times with a Taser.
Maciak and his partner with the assistance of firefighters and two additional paramedics who arrived later, performed CPR on Dziekanski for almost half an hour before he was officially declared dead.
The testimony by Maciak raised more questions on how the officers cared for Dziekanski after he fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
Four Mounties confronted Dziekanski in the airport’s international arrivals area where an agitated Dziekanski has been throwing furniture. He was stunned several times after he picked up a stapler.
The supervising RCMP officer, Cpl. Benjamin Monty Robinson insisted he monitored the condition of the man after he was shocked and handcuffed. When he turned over the man to the firefighters, about a minute and a half before the arrival of the paramedics, he was breathing and had a pulse.
Prompt intervention with CPR
