According to the Laval police, it remains uncertain how the 2-year old boys ended up in the swimming pool but both were under the water for at least a minute before they were pulled out.

Neighborly response

One of the neighbors, Watson Jules came running when he heard screaming next door. The boys were already on the grass and not breathing or moving. He and his sister started CPR.

Upon the arrival of the ambulance shortly after, they transported the boys to Sainte-Justine hospital in Montreal where they remain in stable condition. According to Laval police Sgt. Simon Charette, the doctors are still monitoring the condition of the boys. He added that it was possible that the toddlers climbed a ladder leading into the pool and fell in. Parents must ensure that there is nothing around or near the pool that children can use to climb to enter the pool area.
