A 16-year old boy who has been missing has been presumed to drown on Gregoire Lake. The members of the Central Alberta Rescue Dive Society joined the search during the long weekend along with sonar and underwater cameras.
Water rescue
The RCMP will continue to search for the boy with boat patrols for the entire week. On the same day the 16-year old boy went missing, an 8-year old boy died while a 13-year old boy was rescued after the 2 were caught in a storm while canoeing in Lac La Biche.
Based on the report of Lac La Biche RCMP, the youths were canoeing together close to Poplar Point when the wind gained speed and a storm rolled in. Once the family and friends could not see their canoe, they got in touch with the Lac La Biche RCMP for assistance. The RCMP and Fish and Wildlife officers arrived and started the search operation.
The 13-year old was found unharmed but taken to Lac La Biche hospital for further assessment. The 8-year old boy was found right after but was unresponsive. The first responders delivered CPR but the boy was declared dead at the Lac La Biche hospital.
