The father of the boy administered CPR while waiting for the arrival of the police. The paramedics also utilized an automated external defibrillator (AED) but neither the pulse or breathing of the child were not restored during transport to a healthcare facility.

According to the preliminary information by Bruce Dyotte, spokesperson for the Cooperative des techniciens ambulanciers de la Monteregie (CETAM), the boy might have spent between 2-3 minutes underwater.
