A victim of an apartment blaze in Windsor received CPR. The fire was considered deadly after crews were called to a burning apartment building near the city core.
Deadly blaze
The firefighters rushed to the building at Ouellette Avenue and Hanna Street around 8 PM to find heavy smoke coming from a ground floor unit facing Dufferin Street.
A man was pulled from the apartment onto the back lawn where the first responders delivered CPR until the arrival of the paramedics on the scene. Sadly, the man rescued from the apartment succumbed to his injuries.
Everyone was allowed to return to the building on Thursday evening, except four residents and two dogs who have been displaced.
The scene continues to be controlled by emergency officials as an investigation is started. There was an inspector from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal who remains on the scene and the investigation continues.
