Paramedics who arrived at John Laurie Blvd near Brisebois Drive N.W. found a man believed to be in his 70s in a critical, life-threatening condition.

The man was driving a pickup truck, traveling in the eastbound lanes of John Laurie when the vehicle veered across the median into the westbound lanes before hitting a pole along the westbound shoulder.

Bystanders who arrived at the scene found the driver unconscious and unresponsive behind the wheel and started CPR. The police are investigating the incident and roads in the area were closed.
