A two-year old who was pulled from a lake was given CPR. The death of a toddler who was pulled lifeless from the waters of Lake Bonaventure had led to pleas for increased awareness of water safety.
Watery ordeal
The EMS was called to the southeast community of Lake Bonavista around 11 AM for reports of an unresponsive child in a body of water.
According to Nate Pike, a public education officer with EMS, the child was transported to a healthcare facility in critical condition and was later declared dead.
The witnesses stated that someone was performing CPR on the child in front of a house on Lake Placid Drive S.E, which hacks onto Lake Bonaventure. According to Carole Henke, fire department spokeswoman, it was family or neighbors who called for help.
The child was around 15 months old. Henke could not confirm how long the child had been in the water.
