The officers were the first one to arrive at the area and they immediately provided first aid to the girl.

According to Constable Lorraine Edwards, she stated in news that within three to four minutes of the emergency call, the police were the first to arrive at the area before the EMS or Emergency medical services. They were very fast in providing first aid to the victim. The police men used a tourniquet on the injured leg to provide pressure and prevent the flow of blood. That procedure most likely saved her life. During that time there were four other children around the area. According to the policemen, they believe that the girl might be playing near the tracks with the other children. There is a possibility that the children tried to jump onto the train that was travelling at a very slow speed. The child fell and her leg was run over by the train that resulted to a very severe injuries. She was taken to the Children’s Hospital by paramedics to undergo surgery.

The incident happened in Count Matthew Green’s ward. According to Green, the features of the neighborhood are presence of old industrial rail tracks that is bisecting within the neighborhood. It is rare when it happens, but very tragic when it does. His sincere condolence is sent to the family of the young girl. There should be a culture of awareness between the parents, families and schools and will work around together being aware of the safety of the railroad tracks. The primary importance is education for the community just how serious it is as a concern for the safety of the people.
